The above are the basics to learn-to-type free the regular keys on the keyboard.

Following is a free online lesson on typing symbols and special characters on your keyboard. It is important to learn to type this too, so that you do not have to look on your keyboard when typing the special characters. Looking on your keyboard slows down typing speed and takes away your precious time.

I'll keep it short. No need to go into length here. The special characters and symbols above the numbers on the upper row of your keyboard are hit with the same fingers as the numbers on the same keys below the symbols.

Now, to learn to type those keys - simply go to the free numeric key typing lesson, and learn how to type the numbers there. Just keep in mind which symbols are on which number keys, so that you remember them easily while doing your typing practice.

I'll add just a few more special keys here, all of which are typed with the RIGHT HAND. Note: I'll only write here the lower symbols of the keys. The upper symbols on the same keys are typed with the same fingers, and I'll not repeat them below. Just make sure to press SHIFT with the opposite hand whenever you type those upper symbols and characters on the keys.

The following keys are typed with the LITTLE finger of the LEFT hand:

TAB key
CAPS LOCK key
LEFT SHIFT key

NOTE: when you press SHIFT together with another key, always do it with the Opposite hand. There are 2 Shift keys each on both sides of the keyboard. When you type, say, the dollar sign above the letter 4, hit the 4 with your middle finger of the left hand and Shift with the little finger of your right hand.

SHIFT is pressed not only for the upper symbols on keys, but also to CAPITALIZE letters.
