Q. When I take a typing speed test, how many words per minute are considered good typing speed?
A. Perhaps, this should be decided rather by teachers and educators. However, we can think of 35 words per minute as satisfactory wpm typing speed. 50-60 words-per-minute as excellent typing speed. 70-80 wpm and up can be managed by expert typists.
If typing speed of 90 + words per minute (like my own speed) sounds impossible to you - don't discount yourself. You most likely can do it. It takes time and practice, but it's doable, and it's not as hard as you might think. Take some typing speed lessons with a practice typing tutor, practice, and you'll get there.
Q. How long does it take to learn to touch type?
A. It depends on how much and how quickly you learn, and how much you typing practice you do. To learn basic typing skills should not take long. I believe that the more you learn, the better and faster you'll type.
I'm typing already for over 20 years now. It was not hard to learn, but even today I still improve my typing speed as I keep practicing typing every day. Again a typing tutor program can be very helpful for your typing course and practice.
