Touch Type in Typewriting Vs. Computer Keyboarding Typing Age
I learned to touch type back in the old Typewriter age. We learned typewriting on typewriters, machines that young people might never have seen.
Today, we're in the computer era, so we use computers instaed of type-writers. I used to type still on the non-electric, manual typewriters and then on the electric ones.
When the pc computer became popular I switched to it, and I loved typing much more on the computer keyboard than a typewriter, because it felt more intuitive.
It's also more quiet, thus solid, descrete, without the disturbing noise of the typewriter buttons hits and the beeps.
May be I'm mistaken, but I felt I can touch type faster with the computer keyboard than by typing on a typewriter. It's more convenient and sounds like it speeds up my typing.
Another point: today, when we have the computers allowing us to use computer programs, we have the advantage of using computer keyboard games to learn touch type with the fun of playing the computer games. In the age of typewriter, we could'nt have dreamed of such.
Typeing games were non-existent. Likewise, we could not have today's full-featured computer typing programs that teach us to type faster with many different interactive typing lessons, talking typing teachers and various keyboard tests that let us test typing speed and improve on the typing skills.
Having learned to type so long ago, obviousely I can type quite fast nowadays. I usually don't count my typing speed, however, and I don't take typingtests either.
For me, knowing that I can type up very fast whatever I want to type, is sufficient.
