What Means Touch Typing, Anyway?

Touch-Typing, in case you didn't know, means typing with the sense of touch, instead of the sense of vision.

When you learn to type with ten fingers without looking at the keyboard, you're in fact learning to touch-type. You learn typing just by placing your fingers on the right keys of the keyboard and touching them. You have no other way to know which keys to hit.

If you're typing, however, by looking on the keyboard and locating the right keys with your eyes, this is not called touchtyping. Your typing speed in terms of words per minute will be much lower than by doing touch-typing.

You should learn to touch type. It's a worthwhile skill to master that will save you much time of your keyboard typing practice.
