It is actually a full typing tutor, but I'd rather call it a typing game, because I consider its computer game as the most interesting part of the program. The computer game / typing tutor download is a demo version with limited functionality, but if you like it, you can order the code and activate the full version. You'll be able to take 3 of the typing lessons of the demo version free of charge.
You can learn to type free by taking these free typing lessons. The program will also monitor your typing skills and provide reports and charts of your performance. You can also adjust the levels of the typing tutor program and practice typing at quick or slow speed. If you're still a beginning typist, then you may want to set it for relatively low words-per-minute typing speed. The keyboard picture shown on the screen creates an educational look and feel. The keyboard keys are colorful, which is a nice feature for kids learning to type on the keyboard. When you learn typing with this computer program, make sure that you don't disappoint Mr. Albunny by typing the wrong words on the keyboard, because he's there watching your typing activitiy from above the keyboard keys. There's also an illustration of 2 hands on the screen-keyboard. The proper fingers of the hand are highlighted above the right keys of the keyboard. There are various keyboard layouts that you can set for different languages, including keyboard-layouts with the foreign characters of far-east languages, and this is a big advantage of this keyboarding program. Some more features: various typing lessons and keyboarding exercises, including a keyboarding lesson to learn to type the numeric keys of the keyboard.
It is, however, in my understanding, not as extensive as many other available typing tutor software, and It offers relatively few keyboarding lessons and typing tests. The layout of the typing tutor is also not as professional looking as other high-quality typing-tutors, so I'd take with a grain of salt the following claim on the typing tutor website: "...But none of them could make learning to type so quick, efficient, and enjoyable as Al Bunny's Typing Class does." - I'd take this claim with a grain of salt.
Despite the above, I still like the typing tutor program, mainly because of the engaging typing game for kids, and also because of the speed of the typing program, which even on my old and slow computer has downloaded very quickly, and it works sufficiently well on my pc.
As said, I'd call it a typing game for kids, because the computer game to me is the best part of this typing tutor. The authors call it Typing Class. So, it is a fun typing class for kids. They too agree that "though by nature is a typing tutor problem, is designed to be as interesting as a game.".
