Hitting The Space Bar With 1 Thumb Or Both? Hi Jacob, My co-worker and I had a discussion. We noticed that we both only use our right thumb (we are right handed) for the space bar. We were wondering if we were taught that in typing class or are we supposed to be using both thumbs for the space bar? Answer: Dear Maria, Thanks for asking this wonderful question! Yes. You're right, Maria. Because you're right-handed, hitting the Space Bar with your right thumbs is just right for you. It is likely that you were taught that in the typing class. You're not supposed to be using both thumbs for the Space Bar. Answer: Hi C.D., It's OK to lose the home position for a moment in order to hit the Backspace. Do this with the Right Pinky finger, the small finger of the right hand, then get back immediately to the home row. No need to look at the keyboard for this. Takes only some practice. Regards, Jacob
