My co-worker and I had a discussion. We noticed that we both only use our right thumb (we are right handed) for the space bar.
We were wondering if we were taught that in typing class or are we supposed to be using both thumbs for the space bar?
Answer:
Dear Maria,
Thanks for asking this wonderful question!
Yes. You're right, Maria. Because you're right-handed, hitting the Space Bar with your right thumbs is just right for you.
It is likely that you were taught that in the typing class. You're not supposed to be using both thumbs for the Space Bar.
For a left-handed, using the thumb of the left hand is suggested by typing tutors, such as the Typing Master typing tutor, which is worth a buy, even if you're a good typist and have good typing skills.
Whatever one decides - using the thumbs of the right hand or the
left-hand - he/she should stick with it and not change around.
I have excellent typist skills and would like to do any typing work from home via Internet or whatever way.
I'd be willing to type books, transcribe seminar recordings, or any other home based typing job to earn some extra money from my typingskills.
Thanks,
Jeff V.

While I have good typing skills and can type very well, and I can 10 key very well, I seem to be loosing out on jobs, because I need to build speed on filling in forms using both skills at once, and I just know that if I can get some practice, I will be able to turn my rotten luck around!
Can you send a link, or web page that will incorporate typing and 10-key in (1) exercise. I'm hoping for a speed building exercise.
An example would be like an employment application, where you are asked to move from field to field using words and numbers. Thanks for you assistance.

Answer:
Hi Jonathon,
If you wish to learn typing from a lesson that shows the keyboard on the computer screen and indicates which fingers to hit their corresponding keys, A good choice would be the Touch Typing Now (TM) typing tutor.
It helps you improve your typing skills with lessons and games. It has a large picture of the keyboard on screen, shows the right finger placement and includes great typing lessons.
It also has an animated typing teacher, directing you in her clear and friendly voice in the typing lessons on how to type with her clear and friendly voice.
It's a very good typing tutor, probably one of the best around and highly popular. It also has a keyboard picture on the screeen, and you're offered a large selection of typing lessons.
On the keyboard graphic on the screen, the appropriate keys are highlighted, and it shows which fingers to place on which keys on the keyboard.

I'm practicing typing and wish to brush up on my typing skills. When I make mistakes while typing I have to press Backspace key, and I lose my home key positions, and hence I have to look at the keyboard again.
Is there any better way?
Answer:
Hi C.D.,
It's OK to lose the home position for a moment in order to hit the Backspace.
Do this with the Right Pinky finger, the small finger of the right hand, then get back immediately to the home row.
No need to look at the keyboard for this. Takes only some practice.
Regards,
Jacob
